Overview

On August 7, 2025, Bihar Governor Shri Arif Mohammad Khan laid the foundation stone for the 800-capacity girls' hostel at the AJEH 800 Bed Students Residential Campus in Mastichak, Saran district, Bihar.

This ongoing project aims to create a modern, eco-friendly residential facility for 800 students, designed to promote academic excellence and holistic development. Executed under a lump-sum contract, the initiative involves the simultaneous construction of two G+4 building blocks, along with ancillary structures and infrastructure, all adhering to good-for-construction drawings and specifications.

The State Bank of India has provided Rs 15 crores in financial support for the girls' hostel, underscoring the project's significance.

This initiative reflects BuiltX’s commitment to delivering sustainable, high-impact projects for non-profit organizations, ensuring progress within budget despite logistical challenges.

The Project Owner

The project is led by Akhand Jyoti, a non-profit organization under the Yugrishi Shriram Sharma Acharya Charitable Trust. Akhand Jyoti is dedicated to eliminating curable blindness in Bihar by 2026, while also empowering communities through education and skill development. This residential campus aligns with their vision of fostering education and empowerment for underserved communities.

  • Focus on holistic education and community development
  • Commitment to empowering women through training and leadership opportunities
  • Operated under the Yugrishi Shriram Sharma Acharya Charitable Trust

Project Innovation & Technical Excellence

1. Advanced Construction Methodologies: Our concurrent construction approach for both G+4 blocks represents a sophisticated project management strategy that accelerates delivery timelines while maintaining quality standards. This parallel execution methodology ensures optimal resource utilization and minimizes project duration without compromising structural integrity.

2. Quality Assurance Protocols: BuiltX has implemented rigorous material sourcing strategies featuring premium materials such as Tata steel for structural frameworks, ACC cement for superior concrete strength, and high-grade materials for durability and aesthetics. Our quality control measures include regular testing protocols and third-party inspections to ensure construction excellence.

3. Seismic Engineering Excellence: Our earthquake-resistant RCC designs exceed seismic zone IV compliance requirements, incorporating advanced structural engineering principles to ensure long-term safety and durability. The buildings are designed to withstand seismic activities while maintaining operational continuity.

4. Local Partnership Development: Strategic collaborations with local suppliers ensure community economic development while maintaining cost efficiency. Our consultation partnership with IIT Delhi's Civil Engineering Department brings academic expertise to practical construction challenges, ensuring technical excellence and innovation.

Our Approach

To address these challenges, BuiltX has adopted a strategic and collaborative approach to ensure project progress:

  • Close Client Collaboration: Working closely with Akhand Jyoti to align the project with their vision for a student-centric, sustainable campus.
  • Tailored Solutions: Developing cost-effective engineering solutions, including partnerships with local suppliers and consultations with IIT Delhi’s Civil Engineering Department.
  • Seismic Compliance: Prioritizing earthquake-resistant RCC designs using high-quality materials like Tata steel and ACC cement to meet seismic zone IV standards.
  • Efficient Project Management: Deploying a dedicated team of architects, site supervisors, and trusted subcontractors, with regular site visits to monitor progress.
  • Transparent Communication: Maintaining open channels with the client, architects, and stakeholders to quickly resolve issues and facilitate donor site visits to showcase progress.
  • Planned Safety Systems: Designing for CCTV surveillance, fire detection systems, and emergency exits to ensure campus safety.
  • Quality Control: Sourcing durable materials, such as tiles from Gujarat and coarse aggregates from Jharkhand, to ensure longevity and functionality.
  • Cost Optimization: Negotiating advance deals with suppliers to mitigate price fluctuations and stay within budget.

Current Progress

The AJEH 800 Bed Students Residential Campus is progressing steadily toward its goal of creating a modern, inclusive facility. Key milestones include:

  • Design and Planning:

    • Finalized architectural layouts for dormitories, study areas, and recreational spaces, with provisions for mid-project revisions if needed.
    • Ensured designs align with seismic and safety standards.

  • Student-Centric Focus:
    • Incorporating inclusive features like clear signage and accessible layouts to create a supportive environment for students.
    • Using high-quality, non-toxic materials to ensure a safe and healthy living space.

  • Ongoing Construction:
    • Civil and RCC works are underway, with a focus on maintaining quality and adhering to the 12-month timeline.
    • Cost management strategies are in place to stay within budget despite supply chain challenges.

Expected Outcomes & Impact

1. Expected Outcomes & Impact Student Life Enhancement: Upon completion, the campus will transform educational experiences for 800 students by providing modern dormitories with integrated study spaces, recreational facilities, and technology-enabled learning environments. The thoughtfully designed spaces will foster academic excellence, social interaction, and personal development in a supportive residential setting.

2. Sustainability Goals: The project targets significant environmental impact reduction through energy-efficient systems expected to achieve 25-30% lower energy consumption compared to conventional buildings. Sustainable material choices and water conservation systems will establish the campus as a model for environmentally responsible educational infrastructure.

3. Community Transformation: The completed facility will generate substantial social and economic benefits for the Mastichak region, including sustained employment opportunities, local skill development, and enhanced regional infrastructure. The campus will serve as a catalyst for broader community development, supporting Akhand Jyoti's mission of empowerment through education.

4. Replication Potential: This project establishes a scalable model for similar educational infrastructure initiatives across rural India. The innovative construction methodologies, sustainable design principles, and community-centered approach developed here can be adapted for future projects, maximizing BuiltX's impact in underserved educational sectors.

5. Long-term Educational Impact: The campus will enable Akhand Jyoti to expand their educational programs significantly, potentially reaching thousands of additional students over the coming decades. This infrastructure investment supports the organization's broader goals of eliminating curable blindness while building educational capacity in Bihar's underserved communities.
